Our lab, the Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory, works on the growth, fabrication, and characterization of various semiconductor materials such as gallium arsenide (GaAs), zinc oxide (ZnO), and aluminum nitride (AlN) for semiconductor devices. We study the properties of bulk materials as well as the device characteristics of solar cells, high-electron-mobility transistors, and terahertz photoconductive antennas.

Gerald Angelo Catindig’s research work focuses on the growth of GaAs-based semiconductor heterostructures via molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Gerald’s research interests include the creation of terahertz photoconductive antennas (THz PCAs) suitable for telecom wavelength (1550 nm) excitation, thin film solar cells, and infrared semiconductor lasers. Gerald earned his BS Physics degree at UP Baguio, and he earned his MS and PhD Physics degrees at UP Diliman.
